Strategies for getting the best Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Wonderful 5 BR Family Beach Home on Quiet Street w\/ HUGE POOL,1 Block to Beach, & Fire-pit! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
Advice for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
