Our top Isle of Palms vacation rental tips:
Get the best value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose your prefectrental:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Modern Beach Home w\/Private Pool, 3 Master Suites & Short Walk to Beach! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- If there's a certain Isle of Palms destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
