Tips for getting the best Isle of Palms rental experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Isle of Palms area. Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the best rental:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. 1 Intracoastal - Golf Views, Private Pool, Screen Porch, Theatre Room! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
