Strategies for getting the best Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have coupons for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- 0.5mi Walk to the Beach, Pool, Patio, Large Yard has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, email the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
During your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
