Strategies to get the optimal rental experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Isle of Palms. To find the most suitable rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by having your family agree to vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Large Home Right by the Beach! Private Pool & Elevator! Fun Backyard w\/ Swingset has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. Otherwise, email the host before reserving the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
