Isle of Palms rental home booking tips:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Summer time is high season in the Isle of Palms area. To find the best value, consider changing your family's Isle of Palms vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing the best rental:
- First and foremost, have your family agree to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beautiful home with a gorgeous saltwater pool, 1 block from the beach - 806 Carolina has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Know before you go:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
