Tricks and tips to get the best Isle of Palms rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- To get the best value, consider changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental in the Isle of Palms area:
- Start by having your family choose date ranges and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautiful home with a gorgeous saltwater pool, 1 block from the beach - 806 Carolina has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before you book the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your group.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Know before you go:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
