Strategies to get the optimal vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Isle of Palms trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, picking, and booking your Isle of Palms rental home:
- To start, have your family agree to date ranges and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Beautiful home with a gorgeous saltwater pool, 1 block from the beach - 806 Carolina has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual Isle of Palms destination you long to visit, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
Know before you go:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
