Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- Book your rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Isle of Palms area travel guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Isle of Palms area:
- Start by having your family choose trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. CLASSIC and Cozy IOP Beach Home, Family-Friendly, Walk to Marina! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your group.
- If there's a specific Isle of Palms attraction you are crazy about, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
