Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- In the Isle of Palms area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Isle of Palms area. To get the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitor guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your Search:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Stunning Beach House, Fully Renovated, Pool, Theater Room, Steps to Beach -3 46th Avenue has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your group.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
