Finding the best Isle of Palms rental home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserve your vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and pick your prefect Isle of Palms vacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Stunning Home! Pool, Theater Room, Steps to Beach - 3 46th Avenue has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
