Booking the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Choosing the best rental in Isle of Palms:
- Select vacation dates and max budget.
- Gorgeous Character Home w\/ Pool, Sun Room & Pool Table! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your group.
- If there's a particular Isle of Palms attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
