How to get the best Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:
Finding the best value:
- Book your Isle of Palms rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitors guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the best vacation rental:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Classic Family Beach House, short walk to beach, Pet friendly w\/ fee - 17 56th Ave has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Isle of Palms destination you are enamored with, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
