Finding the best Isle of Palms rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Isle of Palms. To book the best vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Isle of Palms restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by choosing the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Classic Family Beach House, short walk to beach, Pet friendly w\/ fee - 17 56th Ave has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, email the host before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your trip.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
Tips to have a great stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
