Strategies for getting the best Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Book your Isle of Palms rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Classic Family Beach House, short walk to beach, Pet friendly w\/ fee - 17 56th Ave has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before booking the home. - Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it.
