Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Summer is high season in the Isle of Palms area. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Finding the best vacation rental in the Isle of Palms area:
- To start, have your group agree to date ranges and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Updated Pet friendly beach home, large screened porch, walk to beach! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you book the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your family.
- If there's a specific Isle of Palms beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
