Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:
Find your best deal:
- The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
