Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your Isle of Palms vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Finding the best rental:
- First, have your group commit to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Charming Classic Beach Home w\/Private Pool, Chair Lift, Dog Friendly & 2 Master Suites! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a certain Isle of Palms beach you long to visit, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
