Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Isle of Palms. To find the best value, change your family's Isle of Palms vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic.
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain deals for local tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. White Sands ~ Stunning Luxury & Private Pool has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.

Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Call the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
