Strategies for getting the perfect Isle of Palms rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your Isle of Palms vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose and book your prefectrental home:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on date ranges and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront 3rd Floor Condo in Wild Dunes Resort w\/ Community Pool! Great Views! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
