Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to choose the best rental:
- First and foremost, have your group choose the best dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Oceanfront 3rd Floor Condo in Wild Dunes Resort w\/ Community Pool! Great Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Know before you go:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
