Our top Isle of Palms rental home tips:
When to visit Isle of Palms & When to book:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Isle of Palms. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Modern Oceanview Villa in Wild Dunes Resort, Pool Access has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
