Strategies for getting the best Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:
When to visit Isle of Palms & When to book:
- Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Isle of Palms area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book yourrental home:
- First, have your family decide on a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. \"Seaside Cottage\" Secluded cottage short walk to beach in Wild Dunes has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a great stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
