Tricks and tips to get the very best Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
When to visit Isle of Palms & When to reserve a Isle of Palms rental home:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitors guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the perfect rental:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. \"Seaside Cottage\" Secluded cottage short walk to beach in Wild Dunes has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your trip.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges applied to your invoice.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
