Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your Isle of Palms vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Spacious 4-Bedroom Beach House with Pool and Ocean Views has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your family.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Advice for a great stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
