Finding the best vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the perfect rental home:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Steps from Beach + Community Pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's an individual Isle of Palms destination you simply love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or applied to your contract.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
