Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Isle of Palms area. Book your Isle of Palms vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by having your group commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Gorgeous Quiet Lakefront Beach Cottage Inside Wild Dunes! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More tips for your visit:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- At Check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
