Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Isle of Palms rental experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Make a plan and pick your prefect Isle of Palms rental home:
- To start, have your family agree to the best dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. High Tide By AvantStay
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If not, contact the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is best for your family.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Contact the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of concerns.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
