Strategies for getting the best Isle of Palms rental experience:

Find your perfect rental:

  • In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Summertime is high season in the Isle of Palms area. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
