Strategies to get the perfect Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your Isle of Palms vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 8D Mariners Walk - Ocean Views - Wild Dunes has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
