Tips to get the very best vacation property experience:

When to book a Isle of Palms rental & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Make a plan and choose yourrental:

  • Begin by selecting your trip dates and a budget.
  • Ocean View, Shared Pool, Boardwalk to Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Considerations for your stay:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
