Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Isle of Palms rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Isle of Palms area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by choosing the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Picture Perfect Home w\/ Stunning Backyard has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- If there's an individual Isle of Palms destination you crave, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
