Our top Isle of Palms vacation rental home tips:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Reserve your Isle of Palms rental home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Pelican by AvantStay
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a certain Isle of Palms attraction you simply love, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
