How to find the best vacation rental experience:
When to reserve a Isle of Palms rental & When to go:
- Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Isle of Palms area:
- First, have your family commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Pelican by AvantStay
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
Tips for a great stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
