Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
Find your best deal:
- Reserve your Isle of Palms rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Selecting and booking the perfect Isle of Palms rental:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Top Floor Oceanfront Penthouse - Pool, Views, Playground! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, email the host before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation group.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
