Finding the best Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation rental in Isle of Palms:
- Start by choosing vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 11B Mariners Walk by AvantStay
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before you book the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If there's a particular Isle of Palms beach you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
