How to get the best Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
When to book a Isle of Palms rental home & When to go:
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitor guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your search:
- First and foremost, have your family select dates and a max budget.
- Direct Beach Access!
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Isle of Palms destination you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
During your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
