Getting the best Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Isle of Palms area. To get the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Isle of Palms area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the best vacation rental in Isle of Palms:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Multi-Room Panoramic Oceanfront Views, Community pool - 505 Summerhouse has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
