Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the right Isle of Palms rental:
- Start by having your group select trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Oceanfront Condo in Wild Dunes! Community Pool! Great View of Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
