Strategies to get the best Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Summer time is high season in Isle of Palms. To find the largest rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Isle of Palms restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guides have deals for nearby tours and attractions.
How to choose the best vacation rental:
- First and foremost, have your group choose a vacation week and a budget.
- Close To Everything has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
