How to book the best Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic.
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose the best vacation rental in the Isle of Palms area:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Centrally located condo, Renovated, Pool & Pier access, Close to beach - 204A Oceanside has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
