Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Isle of Palms. To find the best value, change your family's Isle of Palms vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Isle of Palms area:
- First, have your family agree to the best dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. IOP 6BD Only 3 Min Walk to Beach w\/ Private Pool! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. text the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
