Isle of Palms rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, shift your family's Isle of Palms vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Filter your rental search:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. IOP 6BD Only 3 Min Walk to Beach w\/ Private Pool! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. If not, email the host before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation family.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
