Our top Isle of Palms rental property booking tips and tricks:
When to go & When to book:
- The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- To find the best value, consider changing your family's Isle of Palms trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Filter your rental search:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Oceanfront Home w\/Incredible Views has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
