Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Isle of Palms area. To book the largest rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Isle of Palms restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply Isle of Palms area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Ocean Thriller - Brand New contruction, Ocean view, Private Pool, Hot Tub has 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
Have a great stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
