Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your Isle of Palms rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 2023 FULL RENOVATION Luxury Oceanfront- Private Pool, Hot Tub, & Elevator! Can't beat location! has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific Isle of Palms attraction you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
Advice for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
