Our top Vacation rental tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Isle of Palms area. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for local shops and restaurants.
How to select the best vacation home in Isle of Palms:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Oceanfront Home, Pool, Direct Beach Access, Walk to Town, Pet Friendly w\/ fee- 808 Ocean has 6 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
