Finding the best vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Isle of Palms restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing and booking the bestrental home:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Home, Pool, Direct Beach Access, Walk to Town, Pet Friendly w\/ fee- 808 Ocean has 6 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
