Our top Isle of Palms rental home tips:
Find your best deal:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Isle of Palms. Booking in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the perfect rental in the Isle of Palms area:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Oceanfront w\/ Gorgeous Views! Classic Beach Home, \/MIL Suite! Perfect layout for large families! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Know before you go:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
