Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- To find the best value, try changing your family's Isle of Palms vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Choosing the best rental home in the Isle of Palms area:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Ocean Views, Screened-In Porch, Steps Away From Beach And Pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific Isle of Palms attraction you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
Advice for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Call the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
