How to book the best rental experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Planning and choosing the best Isle of Palms vacation home:

  • Start by having your family commit to a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. \"406a Shipwatch\" Wild Dunes 3 BR Penthouse sleeps 7 has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your trip.
  • If there's an individual Isle of Palms beach you crave, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

During your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. text the property manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
