Rental home tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Isle of Palms area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Isle of Palms area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your group select date ranges and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. IDEAL IOP Beach Home, 6 BR, Private Pool, Close to Beach, Spacious! has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is best for your family.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
