Tips to get the perfect rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitors guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Wonderful New Construction Home w\/ Private Pool! 6 Bedrooms and 6 Full Baths! has 6 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a great stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
