- In the Isle of Palms area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.

- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
