Our top Isle of Palms vacation rental tips:
Find your best deal:
- June, July, and August are high season in Isle of Palms. Book your rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if there is a dispute.

- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
