Finding the best rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- To get the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Choosing and booking yourvacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. 303 D Port O Call by AvantStay
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is right for your trip.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a particular Isle of Palms attraction you are enamored with, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
