Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- In the Isle of Palms area, The sooner your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Reserve your Isle of Palms vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Isle of Palms visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Planning and picking the right Isle of Palms vacation home:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. 2nd Floor Oceanfront Beach Condo w\/Community Pool & 1000ft Fishing Pier! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
