Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:

Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is right for your trip.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.

- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review.
