Getting the best Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- To find the best value, change your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Isle of Palms vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Filter your rental search:
- To start, have your family select date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront, Large Condo! 202 Dunescape! Community Pool & Elevator! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
