Getting the best Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To book the largest rental within budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing the right Isle of Palms vacation home:
- To start, have your family choose the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beach Across the Street! 1st Floor Condo w\/Community Pool & Prime Location in Central IOP! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your agreement.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
