Tips and Tricks to get the very best rental home experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- In the Isle of Palms area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Isle of Palms area. To find the most suitable rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Isle of Palms attractions and restaurants.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Isle of Palms area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. OCEANFRONT Views, Modern and Updated, Community Pool! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
