Isle of Palms rental property booking tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Reserve your vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Isle of Palms area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Isle of Palms area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the best rental home in the Isle of Palms area:
- To start, have your group commit to trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. 2BR\/2BA - Steps to Beach & Pier - Best Value on IOP! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Isle of Palms rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is optimal for your group.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
